Chapter 297 publishes a monthly newsletter--DESERT HEARTS to members, recent hospital patients our Accredited Visitors have seen, healthcare professionals, other Mended Hearts chapters across the country and to interested persons.

It's a big job to get the newsletter folded, stapled, addressed and mailed. Fortunately for our chapter, we have some of the most caring and giving members who labor each month to get the newsletter ready for mailing.

Here, Executive Board members, Bob Switzer, Ed Mattlock, Jim Weber, Carol Easley, Harold Carr, Grace Levine, Harold Levine and Phillip Brown, do their part to get the staples attached, the folds just right and the labels and stamps affixed onto the newsletters.

What is it about this magical group that makes everything they do seem fun and interesting? Maybe Mended Hearts are just that way.

Of course, it could be that these are just special and extraordinary people who give of themselves to help others and have a great deal of joy while doing so!

There are always tasks to do, assignments to accomplish, meetings to attend, but this "hearty" band of volunteers seem to get it all done, no matter what the job.
